forumify Development Log - April 2024
Greetings, forumify community!
As we journey through April, we're excited to bring you updates on the latest features and developments on forumify. Let's dive into the highlights:
Achieving Q1 Goals: Stable PERSCOM Integration
We're thrilled to announce that our Q1 goal of building a stable PERSCOM integration has been achieved. While we're waiting for some minor changes on PERSCOM.io's side to finalize some components, the integration is nearly complete. This achievement marks a significant milestone in enhancing forumify's personnel management capabilities.
Head Start on Q2 Targets: Core forumify Features
We've hit the ground running with our Q2 target of enhancing core forumify features. Already, we've launched three exciting features:
Content Management System
This feature replaces the functionality of the old page editor* and consists of three major components accessible from the admin panel:
Pages: Complete pages with designated links.
Resources: Static files that can be inserted into pages using {{ resource('slug') }}.
Snippets: Reusable HTML bits or content created using the rich text editor, insertable via {{ snippet('slug') }}.
*old pages are migrated to the new editor so no data is lost.
Badges
Administrators can now create and assign badges to users directly from the admin panel. We plan to expand this system to allow for flexible configuration of badge conditions and integration with plugins in the future.
Rich Text Editor
We've replaced the previous editor with a more feature-rich and customizable HTML WYSIWYG editor powered by Quill. This update provides a smoother and more comfortable editing experience for users.
Future Features in the Pipeline
Apart from these amazing features, we are also planning to push a menu builder this week. Allowing administrators to customize the navigation menu and insert links to other pages, forums, topics, external links,... This system is flexible and generic enough to where plugin developers can create their own menu types for conditional entries or easily add extra items to the menu.
After that, we would like to introduce more profile customization options, such as forum signatures and configurable display names. These features will provide users with greater flexibility in personalizing their forum experience.
Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, your input is highly valued.
